Ghost

My Button Collection

It has been at least a year since I last posted on my blog. At this point in my life, I graduated from college a whole 2 years ago…yikes! The past 2 years have certainly been a journey. Going from college graduate to a real world adult is certainly a transition and one that was somewhat tough for me. Many of my friends have moved away and some have even moved halfway or all the way across the country! I’m very happy for them in their new jobs, relationships, and chapters of life, but I do get sad that my friends aren’t close by or a couple hours away.

The job front was also tough for me as it is for most graduates. It took me over a year to finally find a full time position with benefits. It was a great place to work and my coworkers were incredible, but I never really felt like I belonged there. I guess you could say I have “job-hopped” over the past year. I truly believe that your 20s is a time of finding yourself and figuring out who you are and what you want to do/be in life. I feel like I have been doing a lot of that lately.

The most exciting update as of late is my new full time job doing weddings! And when I say new, I mean this is only my second week. I knew in college that I wanted to be involved with the wedding industry. I have worked a number of jobs in event coordination/management since that realization and I am so proud to know that I worked really hard to get to where I am. I am also grateful for the past jobs I’ve held and the coworkers and supervisors that helped me get to this point.

I think that’s enough of an update for now, but I promise to continue to blog on a regular basis if not for anyone else, but for myself. See below for pictures from my workplace! Next post: my beau, my man, my love!

My view when I drive into and out of work.

The best advice :)

Nathan: It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re 17 and planning for someday. And then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.

Haley: We spend so much time wanting, pursuing, wishing. But ambition is good. Chasing things with integrity is good. Dreaming…

Brooke: If you had a friend you knew you’d never see again, what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? Say it, do it, don’t wait. Nothing lasts forever.

Mouth: Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want. Everything you want.

Millie: Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true.

Quinn: You never know where the next miracle’s gonna come from.

Clay: The next memory. The next smile. The next wish come true.

Chase: But if you believe that it’s right around the corner.

Chris: And you open your heart and mind to the possibility of it. To the certainty of it.

Skills: You might just get the thing you’re wishing for.

Julian: The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it.

Brooke: So make your wish … Do you have it?

Nathan: Good. Now believe in it.

Haley: With all your heart.

Event today - day for people with disABILITIES

Event today - day for people with disABILITIES

I don’t believe in hate. To me it wastes too much time. People who hate waste so much of their life hating that they miss out on the other stuff out here. I do not choose to live my life that way. What is done is done. I’m looking to the future…If all my heart was filled up with hate and regrets and what ifs, then what else would it have room for?

Jaycee Lee Dugard (from her memior A Stolen Life)

Seriously?! This girl has every right to hate the man who tortured her, but she doesn’t. We all need to look to her as an example and learn from her. If she can survive the crap she went through for 18 years and come out with this kind of mentality, I think everyone should be able to choose this way of life.

Events and Dating

No pics, but my first event on my own went really well! And the other 2 events we had this weekend went great too!! As crazy as it gets, I love it so much.

I had a date last night too and I’m really happy with how that went. Dating is nervewracking especially after the first date….I hate the whole I-don’t-know-where-this-is-going-to-go feeling when I want so bad for it to turn out for the best. I guess I’m learning.

Getting into Event Season!!!

I wish I had a picture for this post…I’ll possibly take one tomorrow if I remember to amidst all the chaos!

This weekend is a giant weekend for events at the Zoo.  There are two tomorrow, one of which is MY FIRST EVENT staffing alone! I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. It’s a college student’s art showcase, so it should be pretty laid back.

The second event is the Zoo’s Animal Wellness Campus Donor Event..i know, i know. It’s a lot of words. Basically the Zoo is building an animal hospital, so this is event is major because it’s all the people that are going and hopefully plan on donating to the fund for it. It’s pretty imperative that it goes well! I’m not really involved with it since the art show overlaps with it, but I’m going to help as much as possible and be encouraging to those staffing it!

Then Saturday is Party for the Planet! (Get out there and do something good for Earth Day!!) That’s an all day event…yay for being busy. I enjoy it!

Be back tomorrow, hopefully with a few photos!
